Doa Raw

p.1 A little introduction about that.

A little introduction about that.

They call me Sir Do-a-little-of-this-and-that , or Sir Doalittle Thisandthat for short.

I think they mean it to be a jab at my proactive nature, and my unyielding dedication to not focus on anything in particular. At least that is how it seems to me, considering they are a bunch of Sir Doalot of Samethings, and Lady Bigado Overlittle's …

Who are “They”?

They are the people in my town, it a small town, with only a few hundred people. The classic everyone knows everyone type of place. Just modern enough to know the latest news from the cities, but backwards enough to believe the news.

So I could say my name was bestowed upon me. I do have a real name, in case you are wondering but anyone who has lived in close knit communities will know your “nickname” becomes your name.

In my case I think my nickname becomes me. Unlike Rod, Rod's name sucks… On second thought, I guess it fits, but it is unbecoming.

Why do I look this way then you ask?

Well, I am heading to the Not-so-Great Desert as the oldies call it .  The Not-so-Great Desert borders our village, and supposedly no one has ever even made it to the middle of it. Not that many would know they have made it to the middle by my estimation.

As I mentioned my village is backwards enough to believe the news from the big cities. After collecting maps of our region over many years and those of other regions. It seems to me there is a rather large discrepancy of how big and where the Not-so-Great desert actually is.

And so, I am heading out , I will continue straight from this spot.  I bought some of the latest kit from the city-trader. She said if I plan to go to the desert I would need warm clothes but also breathable. A lot of fancy other words and such. In the end she selected a bunch of items made from materials I thought were only in Uncle Drawslyingpicture's story books.

Not completely sure what most of the items do I simply acquiesced when asked to pay, and left. Now a day later I can speak from experience that all the things she gave me are pretty nifty.

I have a warm flexible headcover perfect for the desert evenings. Then an impossibly smooth black jacket with a hat attached to it for rainy and cold days. Then since today is a bit cold to begin I am wearing another thick shirt with a hat attached to it under my jacket. So I have 3 hats. Audacious I know.

The last item she gave me is a back bag… no backpack, and it uses some city secret to allow many more items inside that what should logically fit. All in all I think it was a good use of my life savings you know.

Anyway Mr. Pretendstolisten , if you are heading past my village feel free to tell them where I have gone. Bye.
